Hey there, coloring friends! I’m James, a father of two wonderful kids, Lisa and Mike, and part of the GreenColoring community. As someone who has spent years teaching and creating fun activities for kids, I know how important it is to combine creativity with learning. That’s why I’ve put together a fantastic collection of free, high-quality printable flower coloring pages ready for you to download in PDF format right below!

Why Coloring Flowers is More Than Just Fun

Last weekend, Lisa and Mike were stuck inside on a rainy afternoon, and we decided to color some flower pages together. Lisa, who adores anything pink, was excited to color a cherry blossom tree, while Mike, who loves red and green, had fun with a giant sunflower. But beyond just having fun, I noticed something amazing:

  • Handwriting & Motor Skills Boost Holding and controlling coloring pencils improves small hand movements, helping young kids get better at writing.
  • Finding Out About Nature “Dad, do sunflowers really follow the sun?” Lisa asked as she colored. Their movement is known as heliotropism. Coloring encourages kids to be curious and learn about the real world.
  • Focus & Relaxation Unlike Mike, who usually moves like a tornado, he sat down and focused on staying inside the lines. You can relax and learn patience while coloring.

Safety Tips for Little Artists

I always make sure to keep things safe and mess-free when Lisa and Mike color. Here are some things I do:

  • Use Non-Toxic Crayons & Markers Choose kid-safe materials to avoid accidental ingestion.
  • Create a Coloring Space I set up a small table with washable mats so we don’t have “artwork” on the walls (learned that lesson the hard way with Mike!).
  • Supervise Scissors Use If your kids want to cut out their finished artwork, always keep an eye on them.

8 Crafts for Kids Using Flower Coloring Pages

Last week, my daughter Lisa and I sat down with our freshly printed flower coloring pages, which, by the way, you can download for free in PDF format above this article, and came up with some fantastic craft ideas. Lisa, who loves all things pink and pretty, was especially excited to turn her colored flowers into something magical. My son Mike? Well, he was more interested in cutting things with safety scissors, but we made it work! Here are eight fun crafts you and your kids can create using flower coloring pages.

1. Flower Garland

Materials Needed:

  • Flower coloring pages (print from the free PDF above)
  • String or ribbon
  • Hole punch
  • Safety scissors
  • Glue or tape

Steps:

  1. Start by letting your kids color their favorite flowers from the coloring pages. Lisa took her time picking pink shades, while Mike, true to his energetic nature, just wanted to get to the cutting part. Encourage them to get creative with their colors—maybe a blue sunflower or a rainbow daisy!
  2. Carefully cut out each flower with safety scissors. If your child is younger, like Mike, you might need to help to ensure the flowers don’t lose their petals in the process. To make it easier, draw a light outline around each flower for them to follow.
  3. Make a small hole in the top of each flower with a hole punch. Lisa loved this part because she could punch out little paper dots that she called “fairy confetti.”
  4. Place the flowers evenly apart on a string or ribbon that you thread through the holes. Lisa liked picking out a soft pink ribbon for hers, and Mike, well, he chose green. For a unique garland, let your kids pick out their favorite ribbon.
  5. Secure the flowers in place with a small piece of tape or glue, making sure they don’t slide around.
  6. Put the garland up in a child’s room, your bedroom, or even outside for a garden party! They will feel proud and happy when their art is on display.

Smart Tip: Use glitter glue or stickers to decorate the flowers before threading them onto the garland if your kids want them to sparkle even more. Lisa likes to make them look even fancier by adding little pearl stickers. Applying a flowery perfume to the garland will make it smell like a real garden. 2. DIY Flower Bookmarks

Materials Needed:

  • Flower coloring pages
  • Cardstock or recycled cereal boxes
  • Glue stick
  • Laminating sheets (optional)
  • Hole punch and ribbon

Steps:

  1. Make a strip of paper that is 2 inches wide and 6 inches long. Mike picked out a cereal box with a lion on the back, and Lisa picked pink because she liked the color. Reusing things in the best way!
  2. Help your child glue a beautifully colored flower onto the top of the strip. Encourage them to pick their favorite design and make it pop with extra details.
  3. If you want the bookmark to last longer, place it inside a laminating sheet and carefully trim the edges. Mike wanted his to be extra strong, so we laminated his while Lisa preferred hers soft and simple.
  4. Punch a hole at the top and tie a ribbon through it to give it a finished look. Let your child pick a ribbon that matches their flower.
  5. Now your child has a beautiful bookmark for their favorite storybook! Lisa immediately used hers for her princess book, while Mike stuck his in his Paw Patrol comics.

Pro Tip: If you don’t have laminating sheets, cover the bookmark with clear packing tape to make it more durable! You can also add a little handwritten quote on the back, like “Keep blooming!” For more fun bookmark craft ideas, check out Crayola’s DIY bookmarks.

3. Flower Collage Art

Materials Needed:

  • Flower coloring pages
  • Large sheet of construction paper
  • Glue stick
  • Stickers, sequins, or buttons (optional)

Steps:

  1. Ask your kids to cut out different flowers from the coloring pages. Lisa took her time, while Mike cut out random shapes before deciding he liked Lisa’s flowers better. Give them different shapes and sizes to create variety!
  2. Arrange the cut-out flowers on the construction paper to create a floral masterpiece. Let them mix and match different colors and styles. They can overlap flowers, make patterns, or even create a garden scene!
  3. Once happy with the arrangement, glue everything in place. Be sure to smooth out the paper so there are no air bubbles.
  4. Decorate with stickers, buttons, or sequins to add texture and dimension. Lisa loves adding butterfly stickers to make it look like they’re flying around the flowers.
  5. Hang the finished artwork on the fridge or in their room! Seeing their artwork displayed gives them confidence and a sense of accomplishment.

Genius Hack: If your child loves a 3D effect, use foam tape to lift some flowers off the page! Lisa loved this idea, and Mike just wanted to stick as many buttons as possible. You can also use cotton balls for a fluffy cloud effect above the flowers.

4. Flower Sun Catchers

Materials Needed:

  • Flower coloring pages
  • Wax paper
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • String or suction cups for hanging

Steps:

  1. Cut out flowers from the coloring pages. Lisa carefully selected the ones she thought would let the most light shine through.
  2. Glue them onto a sheet of wax paper, making sure they are spaced out nicely. You can layer some flowers slightly to create a stained-glass effect.
  3. Cut off the extra wax paper that is around the flowers, leaving a small edge to support them.
  4. Hang them in a sunny window with string or a suction cup.
  5. See how the light shines through and makes lovely flower shadows on the walls!

Safety Tip: Supervise kids at all times when they are using scissors, especially Mike, who gets a little excited about cutting sometimes. It’s easier to work with wax paper sheets that have already been cut.

Fun Fact: Lisa loved how her sun catcher made her room look magical when the sun hit it just right!

5. Personalized Flower Cards

Materials Needed:

  • Flower coloring pages
  • Blank cardstock
  • Glue stick
  • Markers or crayons

Steps:

  1. To make a strong card base, fold a piece of cardstock in half. Lisa loves choosing the right cardstock. The last time, she chose sparkly pink, while Mike picked blue because “it looks like the sky.”
  2. Carefully cut out a flower with lots of different colors and glue it to the front of the card. Tell the kids to use doodles or stickers to make designs around it.
  3. Inside the card, help them write a heartfelt message. Lisa once made a card that said, “You are the best mommy ever!” which, of course, melted Emily’s heart.
  4. Let the card dry completely before gifting it. These personalized flower cards make wonderful gifts for birthdays, Mother’s Day, or just to brighten someone’s day!

Fun Tip: Add a tiny dab of lavender essential oil to the paper for a subtle floral scent. Lisa tried this, and it made the card extra special!

6. Flower-Themed Gift Wrap

Materials Needed:

  • Large sheets of plain wrapping paper (white or pastel)
  • Flower coloring pages
  • Glue stick
  • Ribbon (optional)

Steps:

  1. Cut out different flowers from the coloring pages. Lisa and Mike love choosing the brightest colors for an eye-catching effect.
  2. Arrange the flowers on a plain sheet of wrapping paper and glue them down. Create a pattern or scatter them randomly for a playful design.
  3. Wrap your gift carefully, making sure the flowers remain intact and visible.
  4. Add a matching ribbon for a polished finish. Lisa likes tying a bow, while Mike prefers curly ribbons for extra fun.

Fun Tip: We made this for Emily’s birthday last month, and she absolutely loved it! She said it was too pretty to unwrap!

7. 3D Flower Magnets

Materials Needed:

  • Flower coloring pages
  • Craft foam or cardboard
  • Glue
  • Small magnets

Steps:

  1. Cut out a flower shape and glue it onto some craft foam or cardboard for added stability. Lisa went with foam because it was softer, but Mike insisted that cardboard felt “like a superhero badge.”
  2. Carefully trim around the edges to keep the flower shape. Lisa took her time, while Mike tried to cut his as fast as possible and ended up with a “special new petal.”
  3. Attach a small magnet to the back using strong glue and let it dry completely.
  4. Stick it on the fridge or any magnetic surface for a fun floral decoration!

Pro Tip: For a unique three-dimensional look, stack several flowers using foam tape. Because “everything’s better with sparkles,” Mike embellished it with glitter, and Lisa was ecstatic with the result.

8. Flower Puppets

Materials Needed:

  • Flower coloring pages
  • Craft sticks
  • Glue
  • Googly eyes (optional)

Steps:

  1. Use the coloring pages as a template to cut out big flowers. After considering daisies, Mike settled on sunflowers, describing them as “a happy sun.” After that, he realized it was missing one petal to be “a superhero flower.”
  2. Glue each flower onto a craft stick, making sure it’s secure. Lisa used just the right amount of glue, while Mike squeezed half the bottle because he wanted his to be “indestructible.”
  3. Add googly eyes or draw funny faces to give them personality. Lisa carefully placed tiny googly eyes on hers, making it look “super cute.” Mike gave him a mustache and said it was “Professor Sunflower.”
  4. Put on a puppet show! Lisa and Mike created voices for their “talking flowers” and acted out a hilarious “garden adventure.” Lisa’s daisy had a posh accent, while Mike’s sunflower was a brave explorer searching for “the lost garden of gold.”

Fun Idea: Try making a whole flower family and tell stories with them. Lisa made a “flower queen,” while Mike made a “flower robot” that could “defeat the garden pests.”

Making crafts with flower coloring pages is not only entertaining but also a great approach to inspire children’s fine motor skills and inventiveness. Do not forget that above this post you can download 20 free printable flower coloring pages in PDF format! Whether you make a garland, bookmarks, or a sun catcher, your small children will be delighted by these projects.
